Long Range Shoots The
shoots will be held at the Big
bore lever action competition will consist of a variety of targets
from 100 yards out. Single
shot competition will include targets from 300 yards to the buffalo
at 763 yards. Additional challenges may be presented to the shooters
throughout the shooting schedule. Awards
will be given at the conclusion of each shooting day for the events
of the day. SASS
(Single Action Shooting Society) rules for “Long range” competitions
will apply, (SASS Shooter Handbook at
www.sassnet.com) with the
following exceptions;
Black powder or smokeless powder will be allowed at all
competitions.
Iron sights only. (Additional
competitions may be scheduled for competitors desiring to use
Other minor rule changes may effect a particular shooting
day.
Spotters assigned by the Range Master will determine hits or
misses. In
addition it is important to stress that SASS rules for Clothing and
Accouterments will be strictly adhered to.
This means no ball caps, tennis shoes shorts, tank tops etc.
Competitors must dress the part! (1860’s to 1900). Firearms
and calibers must also be consistent with SASS rules
Also all ammunition will have bullets of “pure lead or lead
alloy having plain base, gas checked or paper patched”. These
are the bare minimum basics for the shoots!
Each shoot will be explained in detail at the safety meeting
prior to the start of the competition. Cost
for the shoots will be $15.00 per day per shooter. ![]()
